• Mari Selvaraj belongs to a middle-class family.

• At the beginning of his career, he thought of becoming an actor. However, he then dropped the idea and started working as an assistant director. He then assisted the Indian director Ram in three Tamil films i.e. ‘Kattradhu Thamizh’ (2007), ‘Thanga Meenkal’ (2013), and ‘Taramani’ (2017).

  

• For his directorial debut film, he penned down the lyrics for the songs “Naan Yaar” and “Karuppi.”

• He has authored a few Tamil books titled ‘Thamirabaraniyil Kollappadaathavargal’ (2017) and ‘Marakkave Ninaikkiren’ (2019).

  

• He has directed a few Tamil films like ‘Karnan’ (2021) and ‘Maamannan’ (2023).

  

• For the 2023 film ‘Maamannan,’ he wrote lyrics for the songs “Kanda Vara” and “Utradheenga Yeppov.”

• In 2024, he directed the Tamil film ‘Vaazhai.’ The story of the film is based on the life of Mari. He is also the producer of the film.

  

• As a writer, he has worked in a few Tamil films like ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ (2018), ‘Karnan’ (2021), and ‘Maamannan’ (2023).

• In his leisure time, he loves to travel to various places.
