• Manoj Kumar once shared his love story with his wife, Shashi Goswami, in a media interview. He said that he first saw her during his college days when he went to his friend’s house in old Delhi to study.

• He mentioned that he had never met a girl with wrong intentions, but Shashi was different, and there was something special about her.

• Upon their first meeting, he could not take his eyes off her face, and for one and a half years, they only saw each other from a distance.

  

• With the help of some friends, Manoj and Shashi went to the Odeon Cinema in Delhi to watch the film Udankhatola. After that film outing, they started meeting more often.

• Manoj’s parents had no problem with their relationship. However, Shashi’s brother and mother were against it.

• To avoid getting caught, Manoj would go to his college terrace and Shashi to her house terrace, so they could see each other from a distance.

  

• In 1957, Shashi Goswami received an offer to act in a film, before she married Manoj Kumar.

• In 1970, Shashi Goswami wrote the story of the film Purab Aur Pachhim.
