- As a college dropout, he moved to Mumbai in early 1990’s and began working at a medical shop as an assistant.
- His career started with a small role the film ‘Meesa Madhavan’ where he played as a friend of the lead actor. This role bagged him a couple of roles in the Malayalam films.
- He then along with his fellow dubbing artist, Jismon, started an advertisement agency. He gave his voice to the Malayalam version of Pepsi and Coca-Cola ads which featured Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan.
- In the Malayalam film industry/Mollywood, Prabhakar is referred to as the first casting director.
