Some Lesser Known Facts About Lt. Parul Dhadwal

• Parul Dhadwal was born in a family of military personnel in the village of Janauri in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.

• Her family’s military service began with Subedar Harnam Singh of 74 Punjabis, who served from 1 January 1896 to 16 July 1924.

• Her great-grandfather, Major L.S. Dhadwal, served in 3 JAT. Her grandfather, Colonel Daljit Singh Dhadwal, served in the 7 JAK RIF.

• Her father, Major General K.S. Dhadwal, SM, VSM, and her brother, Captain Dhananjay Dhadwal, serve in 20 SIKH.

  

• Lieutenant Parul Dhadwal was commissioned into the Indian Army Ordnance Corps on 6 September 2025.

• She successfully passed out from the Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai on the same day. She was awarded the President’s Gold Medal for standing first in the Order of Merit in her course.

  

• She is the first woman officer from her family to join the Indian Army. She represents the fifth generation of her family in uniform.

• This made three serving officers from two generations of the family at the same time.
