Julia Schlaepfer was trained in ballet from a young age and was a professional ballerina for 12 years with the Pacific Northwest Ballet (a ballet company) in Seattle, Washington.

She appeared in ballet performances such as The Nutcracker and Swan Lake by the Pacific Northwest Ballet.

During her high school period, she suffered from some injuries which stopped her ballet training.

Alban Dennis, her drama teacher at Lakeside School, guided her to try theatre and drama, and thus, she joined the Young Actor’s Intensive (YAI) at Seattle Children’s Theatre.
