Some Lesser Known Facts About Meghanathan

• Meghanathan completed his school education till tenth grade in Shoranur, Palakkad and pursued further education in Chennai where his father, veteran actor Balan K. Nair stayed concerning his work.

• His interest in films was first noticed by director Palissery Narayanankutty Menon (P. N. Menon) in whose house he was a regular while studying in Chennai.

• He played the role of Ravi, the protagonist Indira’s brother, in the Malayalam film Panchagni (1986), written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan.

  

• His father insisted his children learn a profession considering the instability of the film industry and thus Meghanathan managed his family’s vehicle repair and maintenance business for a long period.

• He was interested in agriculture from a young age and balanced a farming career along with his acting.

• He bought a tractor for farming with his first earnings from the film industry.

• Some of his popular villain roles in Malayalam films include Keerikkadan Sunny in Chenkol (1993), Raghu in Ee Puzhayum Kadannu (1996), Driver Thankappan in Oru Maravathoor Kanavu (1998), and Chandru in Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum (1999).

  

• He suffered major accidents and had to take a prolonged break while shooting for the Malayalam film Prayikkara Pappan (1995) and Kudamatam (1997).

• He acted in several Malayalam television series including Sthreethwam (2015) on Surya TV and Meghasandesham (2015) on Kairali TV.

  

• His performance as Rajendran in the film Action Hero Biju (2016) was highly appreciated.

  

• He breathed his last at a private hospital in Kozhikode while undergoing treatment for respiratory ailments and his funeral happened at his ancestral home in Shoranur, Palakkad.
