• On 22 March 2000, he was appointed as the Government’s Deputy Chief Whip.

• In 2001, he was a special invitee to the Business Advisory Committee.

• In 2000, he became a member of various committees including the House Committee on English Medium School, the House Committee on Railways, and the House Committee on Sareikala and Kharsuan.
• In the same year, he became a member of the Library Committee and the Rules Committee. He served as its member again in 2002 and 2003.

• In 2002, he was appointed as a member of the House Committee on Shri Jagannath Temple Administration in 2003.

• He remained a member of the House Committee of Railways from 2004 to 2006.

• In 2005, he was appointed as the chairman of the House Committee on trucks operating inside the state.

• During his tenure as the Minister of Commerce & Transport, he introduced The Orissa Motor Vehicle Taxation (Amendment) Act, 2004 in 2005.
