• He was born in Poonamallee, Tamil Nadu with the name- Raghavendra Murugaiyan. He adopted the screen name ‘Lawrence’ in 2001.

• He never went to school as he was battling with a brain tumor in his childhood.

• He got rid of that tumor after his mother went to a temple of ‘Raghavendra Swami’ and Raghav strongly believes that his tumor was cured by Raghavendra Swami.

• Since then, he is a fervid devotee of Raghavendra Swami. He also built the Raghavendra Swami Brindavanam Temple at Thirumullaivayal on the Avadi-Ambattur route in 2010.

• He used to work as a car cleaner for the fight master Super Subbarayanand, and on one fine day, the legendary Tollywood actor, Rajinikanth, saw him dancing and helped him join the Dancers Union.

• When Raghava bought his very first house with the money he earned as a dance master, he moved into a rented place with his family and turned that home into an orphanage.

• On 16 September 2025, Lawrence shared that his first home would be transformed into a free school for underprivileged children. He decided to fund the school using the advance payment he had just received for his film Kanchana 4.

  

• While announcing the free school for underprivileged children, he shared that its first teacher would be someone who had once grown up in his foundation.

• On 18 September 2025, Raghava Lawrence introduced ‘Kanmani Annadhana Virundhu,’ an initiative in his mother’s name that serves rich festive meals to poor children who have never experienced such food.
