  • Anaya Bangar was born as Aryan Bangar, a son, to former cricketer Sanjay Bangar.

  • Growing up, Aryan watched his father play cricket and he too developed an interest in the sport.
  • He initially began learning cricketing skills from his father and later trained under different institutions.
  • While in his teens, Aryan joined the Mumbai Cricket Association.
  • Later, he also got associated with the Cricket Association of Pondicherry.
  • While he was in the first year of college, Aryan moved to England to play junior county games for Leicestershire.
  • Aryan has also represented Islam Gymkhana, a local cricket club.

  • While talking about his passion for cricket, Aryan wrote,

    From a young age, cricket has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I watched my dad with awe as he represented and coached the country, and it wasn’t long before I started dreaming about following in his footsteps. The passion, the discipline, and the dedication he showed to the sport were deeply inspiring to me. Cricket became my love, my ambition, and my future. I’ve spent my entire life honing my skills, hoping that one day, I would get the chance to represent my country.”

  • In an Instagram post, Anaya disclosed that after the hormone replacement therapy (HRT), she might not be eligible to play in the top two tiers of the women’s cricket as per the rules of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and ICC. She also said that after the transformation, she had lost of muscle mass. She said,

    I never though I’d have to consider giving up the sport that has been my passion, my love, and my escape. But here I am, facing a painful reality. As a trans woman on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), my body has changed drastically. I’ve been losing the muscle mass, strength, muscle memory, and athletic abilities I once relied on. The game I’ve loved for so long is slipping away from me.”

  • Anaya’s father, Sanjay Bangar, served as the batting coach of Team India from 2014 to 2018. He also served as the batting coach of Team India from 2014 to the 2018 season head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2022 season. Later, he worked as Head of Cricket Development with Punjab Kings for the IPL 2023 season.
