Maya’s father, Noel Tata, is the half-brother of Ratan Tata, whereas her mother, Aloo Mistry, is the sister of the late Cyrus Mistry, who served as the former chairman of the Tata Group.

Maya’s grandfather, Naval Tata, was adopted by Navajbai Tata after her husband Ratanji Tata passed away, as the couple had no children.

Maya, along with her siblings Leah and Neville, has been appointed as a board member of the Tata Medical Centre Trust. They were mentored by Ratan Tata.

Maya initially joined the Tata Opportunities Fund, a crucial Tata Capital affiliate. She developed her investor relations and portfolio management abilities at the fund, where she also gained a grasp of the complex workings of the corporate world.
