• Auqib Nabi Dar was born in a traditional Kashmiri family.

• His father wanted him to focus on academics and become a doctor.

• He started playing cricket with a tennis ball, but decided to become a professional cricketer when one of his friends failed to get selected in the under-16 trials at the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA).

• His father was against his decision initially, but later supported him after seeing his passion for cricket.

  

• In his early days, he copied the aggression of South African pacer Dale Steyn.

• He also failed in his first trial, but got selected in 2018 for the senior List-A team of the JKCA.
