Megha Vemuri was born in an Indian immigrant family. Her family had moved from Andhra Pradesh to the USA before she was even born.

Her father, Sarat Vemuri, worked as an entrepreneur, while her mother holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia State University.

She was also interested in the sciences during her teenage years and later got admitted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Massachusetts.
