Some Lesser Known Facts About Gaurish Akki

• Gaurish Akki is an Indian journalist and television news presenter. He also works as a Kannada film actor, director, and YouTuber. He is known for appearing in the films ‘Cinema My Darling’ (2016), Kengulabi (2018), and ‘Fantasy’ (2022). He is the founder of Alma Media School in Bengaluru. In 2023, he came into the limelight when he appeared as a contestant in the television reality show Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10.

  

• Gaurish Akki began his professional journey as a lecturer at Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College. Later, he taught at S Nijalingappa College in Bengaluru. However, his passion for media led him to switch his teaching career after one year.

• In 2000, Gaurish started his news career with ETV Kannada News channel in Hyderabad and worked there in various roles such as voice-over artist, copy editor, bulletin producer, and program producer.

• Soon after completing his work with ETV News, in March 2005, Gaurish Akki joined TV9 (Kannada) in Bangalore, where he was one of the founding members and an instrumental reason for the channel’s success. He anchored numerous programs on political and social and cultural issues on the channel.

  

• During his journalism career, Gaurish Akki also made his mark in the entertainment section of this news channel by interviewing all the bigwigs of the Kannada industry. His most notable interview series were “Sakhathmaathu” and “Premapallavi,” while another popular series he produced was “Flashback.”

• After working for TV9 for almost five years, he moved on to Suvarna News 24/7 in 2010, where he led the cinema team and produced the program “Cinema Hungama.” He also produced and directed several programs including the popular series “Out of Focus.”

• In 2013, Gaurish Akki appeared in the Kannada films 2013 ‘Charminar’ and ‘Lucia’ in supporting roles.

• From May 2016 to June 2017, he served Suddi TV as its chief anchor.

• In addition to his career in media, Gaurish Akki pursued his passion for film and acted as a lead actor in the Kannada movie Sipayee in 2016. The film was written and directed by Rajath Mayee in his directorial debut.

• In October 2017, Gaurish Akki founded Gaurish Akki Studio in Bengaluru, India. This studio is a production house and produces ads, documentary films, and YouTube videos.

  

• After that, he acted as a lead actor in the novel-based Kannada movie called ‘Kengulabi,’ which was released in 2018. In the same year, he appeared in the film ‘Navodaya Dayzz.’
