• He was born to Shyamlal Ruia. His father used to work in the industry.

• He once said that the entrepreneurship skills that he is blessed with are inherited from his father.

• He graduated from St. Xavier’s College, University of Calcutta. Post his graduation he was awarded his LL.B. from the University of Calcutta.

• He also holds degrees in Charted Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, and Company Secretaryship.

• In 1993, he laid the foundation of Ruia Group.

• In 2003, Ruia Group took over 225-year-old PSU Jessop & Co and entered Heavy Engineering & Infrastructure sector. Jessop started making good profits.

• Jessop serves various clients, for instance, Indian Railways, Defence Services, BSL, BSP, DSP, Kolkata/Haldia Port etc.

• In 2003, Pawan Ruia became the Chairman of Raghav Industries Ltd.

• In 2005, Ruia Group took over tyre majors Dunlop India Ltd. and Falcon Tyres Ltd.
