Evan is the co-founder and CEO of the mobile app Snapchat that he created with Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown in his college days.

Snapchat was his college project which was initially named Picaboo, by Reggie Brown, but it didn’t appeal the investors. Also, Brown didn’t like the idea of sharing an image that disappears after sometime. So, Murphy and Spiegel decided to part their ways with Brown and renamed the project to Snapchat with some more features.
In 2012, he dropped out of college where he was doing his Product Design degree.
He is a licensed helicopter pilot.

Once, Facebook tried to acquire Snapchat and offered him $3 billion, but he turned down the offer.

In 2014, he met Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr in New York at the Louis Vuitton Gala Dinner, and after dating her for 2 years, they got engaged on 20 July 2016.
