Some Lesser Known Facts About Rukhsar Rehman

• Rukhsar Rehman is an Indian film and television actress. She starred in the crime and mystery web series ‘The Night Manager’ (2023) in which she played the role of Mrinal Singh. She has appeared in some famous Bollywood movies such as PK (2014), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), and 83 (2021).

• In 1992, when Rukhsar made her debut with the film ‘Yaad Rakhegi Duniya’ opposite Aditya Pancholi, she was only 17 years old and was a ninth-standard student. In the same year, she appeared opposite Rishi Kapoor in the film ‘Inteha Pyar Ki.’ However, she had to quit acting soon after since her parents were not open to the idea of her pursuing a career in the film industry. She then moved back to Lucknow, and after completing her formal education, she started a garment designing business there.

• In 2005, Rukhsar returned to the film industry after a gap of 13 years with Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama film ‘D’ in which she played the role of Bhakti Bhatnagar, Randeep Hooda‘s girlfriend. In the same year, she got an opportunity to work with her favourite actor Amitabh Bachchan in the film Sarkar.

  

• Later, she appeared in various Bollywood films such as God Tussi Great Ho (2008), The Stoneman Murders (2009), Knock Out (2010), Allah Ke Banday (2010), Shaitan (2011), Bheja Fry 2 (2011), PK (2014), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), and 83 (2021). In 2017, she made her debut in a Malayalam-language film, ‘Take Off,’ as a doctor.

  

• Rukhsar made her web series debut with ‘The Gone Game,’ which was completely shot at the homes of the respective cast of the show due to the COVID-19 restrictions. In an interview, while talking about her experience working from home as an actress, she said,
  

  I was apprehensive about shooting from home. However, my husband and daughter convinced me to take the plunge. It was a taxing process, but we had a lot of fun.”

• In 2023, she played the role of ‘Mrinal Singh’ in the popular series ‘The Night Manager.’

  

• In 2009, she made her television debut with the show Bhaskar Bharti in which she played the role of a fitness freak. Between 2011 and 2013, Rukhsar was featured as Dr Mallika in ‘Kuch to Log Kahenge,’ a medical drama show starring Kritika Kamra and Mohnish Bahl. In 2013, she appeared in the Life OK channel’s popular show Tumhari Paakhi. In 2014, she made episodic appearances in the shows ‘Adaalat’ and ‘Savdhaan India.’

• In an interview, while talking about her food preferences, she revealed that she enjoys eating chicken and seafood more as compared to mutton. According to her, some of her favourite breakfast items are omelette or scrambled egg whites, muesli, and oats. She enjoys all desserts except gulab jamun.

• She abstains from alcoholic beverages.

• She has been featured in TV ads for a number of companies, including Asian Paints, Kaya Skin Clinic, and Laxmi Foods.

• She is an avid reader. ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ and ‘The Kite Runner’ are a couple of her favourite books.

• Rukhsar, through one of her Instagram posts, shared that as a child she looked up to Mohammed Ali and Bruce Lee and wanted to become like them. She also fantasised about marrying one of them.
