• Alyy Khan is a Pakistani-British actor. He works in Indian, American, British, and Pakistani films and television series. Khan is known for his work in films like ‘A Mighty Heart’ (2007) (American), ‘Don 2’ (2011) (Indian), and ‘Actor in Law’ (2016) (Pakistani).

• According to Alyy, he relocated to the United Kingdom from Pakistan, following the divorce of his parents, along with his mother and sister; he was about 7 years old at that time. They, however, came to Mumbai, India, from the UK when Alyy was 10 years old.

• In an interview, Alyy shared a memory from his childhood in Karachi about the day his parents decided to divorce. One morning, when Alyy and his sister Tanya were about to head to school, their father disclosed his and their mother’s decision to separate, and he ask them to decide who they wished to live with. • Khan appeared in many Hindi-language television serials. In 1993, he played the role of ‘Vikram’ in a sitcom titled ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh,’ which aired on DD Metro (also known as DD 2). In 1994, he appeared in the television drama series ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ as Kabir; the series was aired on Zee TV. Alyy appeared in many episodes of the horror thriller television anthology series ‘Ssshhhh…Koi Hai,’ which was aired on StarPlus; he played the role of Rakesh in the episode ‘Talaash’ (2001), Rohan in ‘Chehre Pe Chehra’ (2002), and Ajitabh in ‘Jinnaat’ (2002).

  

• In 2008, Khan appeared as Jalaal Ahmed in the Pakistani comedy-drama television series ‘Yeh Zindagi Hai,’ which aired on Geo Entertainment (also known as Har Pal Geo) channel. He hosted the show cooking game show ‘Foodistan’ with Ira Dubey, an Indian actor. The show was aired on the channels Good Times and Geo Entertainment. Alyy worked in many other Pakistani television serials including Geo Television’s ‘Saat Pardon Mein’ (2012), Geo Entertainment’s ‘Aap Ki Kaneez’ (2014), and ARY Digital’s ‘Mere Humsafar’ (2021).

• Alyy worked in some British television serials including ITV’s ‘The Bill’ (2006) in which he appeared as ‘Tariq Mustafa-Ali,’ and Channel 4’s ‘Indian Summers’ (2015) in which he appeared as ‘Ramu Sood.’

  

• He played the role of an Indian Army Commander in the American action drama television series ‘The Philanthropist’ (2009) which aired on the channel NBC.

• Alyy appeared in many Hindi-language films such as Akash Rathore in the film ‘Sssshhh…’ (2003), Satish Chaudhary in ‘Luck by Chance’ (2009), and J. K. Diwan ‘Don 2’ (2011).

  

• Khan worked in British and American films as well. He played the role of Mohan Singh in the 2006 British film ‘Sharpe’s Challenge,’ based on English-American writer Bernard Cornwell’s historical fiction novels about the British soldier Richard Sharpe during the Napoleonic Wars.

  

• In 2007, he appeared as Sheikh Omar in the American drama film ‘A Mighty Heart.’ Alyy played the role of Ahmed Khan in a coming-of-age British drama film titled ‘Everywhere and Nowhere’ (2011). His role as ‘Neal Kumar’ in the American drama film ‘The Valley’ made him nominated for Best Actor in a Feature Film award at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema, Berlin and at the Northeast Film Festival (NEFF), US, in 2017; he was nominated for Best Actor award at International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema, Milan, as well for the film.

  

• Alyy appeared as ‘Bashir’ in the film ‘Mogul Mowgli’ (2020), which premiered in the Panorama section at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival on 21 February 2020; Alyy was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award at British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) for the film in 2021.

  

• Alyy Khan has also contributed significantly to the Pakistani film industry, also known as Lollywood. In 2013, he appeared as ‘Wajahat Ali’ in the romantic drama telefilm ‘Anjuman.’

  

• In 2015, he worked as a voice-over artist for the character of young Mangu in the 3D computer-animated adventure film ‘3 Bahadur,’ which was Pakistan’s first feature-length computer-animated film. Khan appeared in many other Pakistani films including ‘Mah e Mir’ (2016), and ‘Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay’ (2016).

• Alyy Khan made his mark on OTT platforms by appearing in British, Pakistani, American, and Indian web series. He played the role of Deputy Superintendent Naranda Nath Tuli in Netflix’s ‘The Serpent’ (2020). This series was first aired on BBC One in 2021 before it began streaming on Netflix in April of the same year.

• Alyy appeared as Vijay Malhotra in the Pakistani Zindagi-original web series ‘Dhoop Ki Deewar’ in 2021; the series premiered on ZEE5.

• In 2022, he played the role of Qasim Ali in an American drama thriller series titled ‘Shantaram,’ which premiered on Apple TV+. Alyy was featured in Disney+’s American miniseries ‘Ms. Marvel’ in the same year.
