• Murali Mohan hailed from Bengaluru, Karnataka.

• Murali became friends with director Upendra Rao during their college days, and their friendship later grew into a close professional association.

• He began his career as an associate director alongside Upendra by working on iconic films such as ‘Tharle Nan Maga’ (1992), ‘Shhh!’ (1993), ‘Om’ (1995), and Tarle Nan Maga.

  

• In 1997, Murali Mohan worked as a dialogue writer for the film ‘Lakshmi Mahalakshmi.’

  

• He served as a lyricist for a romantic psychological thriller film titled ‘A’ (1998).

  

• In 2002, Murali directed the film ‘Nagarahavu.’ He also worked as a screenplay and dialogue writer for the film.

  

• In 2007, he worked as a lyricist, director, and writer for the film ‘Santha.’

  

• Apart from working as a writer and director, he also acted in a few films, including ‘Raaj – The Showman’ (2009).

• Murali Mohan passed away in Bengaluru on 13 August 2025, after years of battling kidney disease.

• He had been on dialysis for several years and needed a kidney transplant, but financial constraints made treatment difficult. While talking about his condition, in an interview, he said,
  

  My health is not good. Earlier I was undergoing dialysis. But now it has reached the stage of transplantation. Now it costs Rs. 30 thousand per month. To get a new kidney, Rs. 30-35 lakhs are required. But, in the current situation, I am not able to do that.”

• Murali Mohan often spoke about the toll of long working hours, neglected health, and financial difficulties in the film industry, while remaining hopeful for support from colleagues and the Kannada film industry for his medical treatment.
