He learned acting from Stella Adler (in New York City) and Playhouse West (in Los Angeles).

He met Jyothi Vynatheya (his wife) during school days at Newark Academy, they dated for more than 10 years before getting married.

His father Krishan Oberoi once produced a film ‘Khote Sikke’ in 1998 which flopped, Krishan also acted in the same film.
